Just when you thought...Rotten Posted by Johnny Rotten on 01/10/05

New Year’s revolution is over and yes as you might have very well guessed when the match was announced, Triple H once again leaves with the World Title. But really was there ever a doubt? Or even a better question; is there anyone in the fed that can carry the torch at this point?

I honestly don't think so at this time. Sure we would have all loved to see Batista dominate and bounce with the title. But is it really his time? Randy Orton has clearly lost major momentum since his face turn, Edge has yet to connect with the audience, Benoit is awesome but did not do much when we had the ball for 5 months, and of course Y2J seems to have fallen off of the map since his embarrassing feud with Tyson Tomko.

That leaves us with Triple H. Yes I know about the supposed politics, the constant title reigns, the predictability, and the rest of the smark comments but I think it would be "best for business" to keep it on him for a short while longer.

Orton seemed to be the golden boy for a while but the WWE has something special with Batista. If they play their cards right he can be what they were hoping to get from Brock Lesnar over the long term. He is starting to show that he has what it takes to get some legit pop from the people. That is something which most Raw superstars have lacked, especially from the Heel side.

On a side note: In reading all of the anti-HHH comments and pro-Paul Heyman comments over the past month, I have a thought or two. Paul did some big time revolutionary things for the business during the ECW days no doubt; but what has he done in either ECW or WWE as a part of the creative team for anyone to think that he is some legend? He had a shot as the top writer in ECW and he built his fed around Rhyno, Dreamer, Sandman, Mike Awesome, and left Rob Van Dam as the consistent understudy. Granted, Rob was the TV champ for 2 years but was never given the shot to be the man. What is ironic is Paul recently said that Rob should have been given the WWE belt in 2001. Maybe ECW would still be around if Paul had listened to his own advice.

To me the fact that the smarks take the politic thing with Triple H is what Hunter wants, real life Heat. However regardless of what he says, he still gives the smarks everything he has in the ring-Hell in a cell, elimination chambers, cages, iron man matches, wrestles hurt, house shows, pig slop matches, jobs to Benoit-Dinsmore-Shelton etc, on and on.. Personally to me that is worth more than any desk work behind the scenes.

I would love to see Paul Heyman in an on air role in order showcase his meaning to the business. He should have a Piper's Pit type show but non scripted. Wouldn't that rock? Whenever he would call out a superstar it would be understood that the conversation would have no connections to angles or storylines and just confirm/deny rumors, stories, past events etc..

Other than that I am hoping for a sweet 2005. Please feel free to send in your feedback at JohnnyRottenUSA@Yahoo.com
